KPKP Ensures Food Safety in Jakarta

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency conducted integrated food inspection in five Jakarta regions ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1441 Hijri.

We continue to monitor food commodities in the midst of COVID-19 in order to ensure food safety for Jakartans

It is carried out to ensure food commodities from agriculture, fishery, and livestock products sold in traditional market and supermarket are safe for consumption.

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Darjamuni stated, food inspection is needed to ensure food commodities which distributed and sold in Jakarta are free from hazardous chemicals such as formalin, chlorine, and pesticide residues.

"We continue to monitor food commodities in the midst of COVID-19 in order to ensure food safety for Jakartans, thus they consume safe and healthy foods," he mentioned after leading food inspection at Johar Baru Market together with Central Jakarta Vice Mayor, Irwandi, Thursday (5/14).

In this inspection, KPKP Agency personnel took several food samples to be tested in laboratory.

"So far, we haven't found any food commodities from traditional market and supermarket that contains of hazardous substance," he said.

Regarding issue of mixing beef with pork, he added, Jakarta KPKP Agency has followed up this issue but haven't discovered any cheating practice related to it.

"Alhamdulillah, it is not happened in Jakarta. But we can inform you that all food commodities are available with stable prices," he conveyed.

For information, here are samples taken for laboratory test: IR rice, pandanwangi rice, curly red chili, big red chili, red cayenne, green cayenne, shallot, garlic, cabbage, kolang kaling, dates, tomato, beef, mackarel tuna, shrimp, and peanut.
